Breathe in, Breathe Out, Find Peace

Mantras can seem like some mystical chanting and are oftentimes misunderstood. A mantra in its most simple terms is a word or sound repeated to aid in concentration in meditation. Today we will practice a simple mantra to help slow your heart rate and help mitigate any stresses you are experiencing.


Sit comfortably, place your hands over your heart.

Take a moment to be mindful and feel the beating below the palms of your hands.

Take a moment to be grateful for the heart which gives you your life.

Focus on your heart. Is it beating fast, is it slow and steady?

Move your attention to your breath.

Take a moment to truly observe your breath.

Notice the coolness as you inhale, the warmth as you exhale.

Truly observe your breathing.

Is it slow and steady or fast and shallow?

Take a full breath in and as you release it open your mouth and sigh it out.

As you take your next breath in say to yourself "breathe in".

As you release that breath say to yourself "breathe out".

In the pause between the next inhalation say to yourself "find peace".

Repeat for at least five more rounds of breath.

Breathe in, breathe out, find peace.

Breathe in, breathe out, find peace.

Breathe in, breathe out, find peace.

Find peace


Take a moment to be present in your body after this practice. Savor the sensation of peace and well-being you have cultivated for yourself. If you feel comfortable, please share your experience in the comments below.
